Model Chevrolet Onix changed a generation, and with it the platform with a “truck” GM Gamma II it moved to a more advanced GM GEM (Global Emerging Markets), which, however, is an evolution of the same Gamma II. In the spring, the Chinese have shown the sedan, and now in Brazil revealed details about the full range of vehicles: hatchback and sedan. The latter, incidentally, got the name Onix Plus, whereas in the past generation Onix sedan wore the name Chevrolet Prisma (see “History”).
Under the hood, Onyx has registered turbotrans 1.0 Ecotec Turbo Flex (116 HP, 165 N•m) and the same motor in the atmospheric version (82 HP, 104 N•m). Will begin selling Onyx with turboserve equipped with six-speed “automatic”, but will catch up later aspirated and “mechanics”. Onix Plus sedan with turbo engine is gaining first hundred in the 9.7 s.
Among the basic equipment of Onyx you can see the assistant pick-up on the rise and an electronic stabilization system, traction control, and pressure control in tires, Isofix anchorages and Top Tether, speed limiter, steering wheel adjustable in two directions and six airbags. “This is a new level for this segment,” say the authors of the model.
In the top version Premier installed headlights projector-type. It is possible to choose from two interior colors: black with grey or black plus caramel. Appeared in the car the light sensor automatically turns on the headlamps, and wireless charging of smartphones. On the second row in comparison with the previous Onyx added 36 mm of space at the knees, two USB ports on the tunnel.

History
The five-door hatchback Onix was created in 2012 specifically for the Latin American market. It was produced at the two factories of GM Brazil (in Gravatai and Sao Caetano do Sul). The car was originally conceived as a budget, but at the same time not alien to the modern trends. Older versions, for example, relied a multimedia system with seven-inch screen, Bluetooth and Chevrolet MyLink system, a first for the compact hatchback.
The hatchback was twice smashed in the tests, Latin NCAP (in 2014 and in 2017, according to the adjusted rules). In the first case, the vehicle earned three stars for protection of adults and two for children, and the second zero for adults and three for children. Over his career, Onyx even managed to report several concepts and several special publications. In 2018, with a score of 112 000 PCs Onyx became the best-selling car in Latin America.
